LTE Advanced Relaying Standard: A Survey
نویسندگان
چکیده
LTE Advanced is a well designed system that meets the requirements of 4G cellular systems. Its standard specification has been lately released. One of its main features is supporting relaying topology inspired from ad hoc multihop networks. This paper is a survey upon the relaying architecture of LTE Advanced standard based on 3GPP Release 10 specifications. A comparison with other relaying architectures, i.e. IEEE 802.16m and IEEE 802.11s is handled. The originality of this work is in involving comparison with multihop architecture supported by IEEE 802.11s based wireless mesh networks. Several similarities are noted and differences are pointed out.

Relaying is one of the proposed technologies for LTE-Advanced networks. In order to enable a flexible and reliable relaying support, the currently adopted architectural structure of LTE networks has to be modified. In this paper, we extend the LTE architecture to enable dynamic relaying, while maintaining backward compatibility with LTE Release 8 user equipments, and without limiting the flexib...

LTE-Advanced (Parkvall et al., 2011; 3GPP TR36.814) is the successor of LTE (Long Term Evolution), which is specified by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). LTEAdvanced can provide downlink and uplink peak rates up to 1 Gb/s and 500 Mb/s, respectively, in 100 MHz of bandwidth. Similar to its predecessor, LTE-Advanced is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based rad...
متن کاملQoS-aware resource management for LTE-Advanced relay-enhanced network
Relaying is one of the major innovative concepts proposed in the recent years for cellular radio communication systems. It is a perfect solution for dealing with the issue of high variability of performance in cellular networks. By coordinated deployment at cell-edge or in shadowed areas, relay nodes can extend network coverage and increase the low end-user performance. Considering the advantag...
